Welcome to Cub Scout Pack 1191!

Pack 1191 is in the Francis Scott Key (FSK) district.  Our district belongs to the National Capital Area Council, which includes the southern and central counties of Maryland and the northern counties of Virginia.

As Cub Scouts, we are members of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA.)  The Pack is run by parent Adult Volunteers.  All Cub Scout parents are encouraged to become BSA Adult Volunteers.  You can choose to serve at the Den Level (for example, Den Leader or Assistant Den Leader) or the Pack Level (for example, Treasurer, Committee Chair, Secretary, or Cubmaster).

The Pack is made up of Dens, which is a group of boys and girls of the same rank.  Where your child begins in Cub Scouting depends on their age at the time that they join.  Children of different ages have different ranks as follows:

  • Lion Scout: Kindergarten children join a Lion Den
  • Tiger Scout: 1st grade children join a Tiger Den
  • Wolf Scout: 2nd grade children join a Wolf Den
  • Bear Scout: 3rd grade children join a Bear Den
  • Webelos Scout: 4th and 5th grade children join a Webelos Den

Introduction to Cub Scouts

Cub Scouting is fun for the whole family.  In Scouting, boys and girls start with their best “right now selves” and grow into their very best future selves. It’s fun, hands-on learning and achievement that puts kids in the middle of the action and prepares them for today – and for life. Since 1930, the Cub Scouts have been weaving lifetime values into fun and educational activities designed to assist parents in strengthening character, good citizenship, physical fitness, and leadership in youth. Scouting IS family values. However, Cub Scouts do not join just to build character, they join because Cub Scouting IS FUN!!
